Threads We Spin is a participatory textile installation created during the ARCA residency as a community project with residents of Picenze and Barisciano, Italy. The work preserves the memory of three days of shared making, during which participants collected discarded plastic bottles and transformed them into thread through hand-spinning and knotting. Sitting together, each fragment was joined into a single continuous spool, symbolizing the bond formed between both communities. The strength of the piece lies in this simple, collective gesture, an act of care and presence that rebuilds connections and affirms making together as a foundational, ongoing practice.
