Urrutia's work is a durational response to the constant influx of streamed media, delivered daily to our phones. In a post-Internet era where our attention is relentlessly consumed by screens, how do we process difficult, disrupted, or harsh images?
This project seeks to counteract this trend through community interventions and slow durational practice. Urrutia has utilised discarded analogue tapes and the rhythmic practice of knitting to create public interventions. By sitting in public spaces and knitting, Urrutia invites collective participation to foster a sense of community and practice an act of resistance. This living, evolving artwork is a practice of grieving, a response to the dystopian imagery social media streams daily. The work attempts to transform loss into shared healing by encouraging moments of genuine human connection in our increasingly digital world.
